How Much Does a Boiler Service Cost?
The average cost of a boiler service is around £50 - £75.
Prices differ depending on whereabouts in the UK you live and who you choose to do the service.
It could be an independent plumber or the company who manufactured your boiler.
If you have an oil boiler then servicing will be more expensive.
Boiler Servicing Costs
Your boiler is no different from your car in that it needs to be maintained with regular servicing. The cost of a boiler service is a lot less than having ad hoc repair work done. Repair work will be picked up in a boiler service which could mean a larger cost if left untreated. Boiler engineers will also check that your boiler is working efficiently and not wasting energy and eating into fuel bills.
Fixed price boiler repairs
The cost of the problems found by an engineer during boiler maintenance may not be clear and it is therefore an option to agree a fixed price boiler repair.
British Gas and Homeserve both offer fixed prices boiler repairs.
Warranties and insurance
If your boiler is still under warranty then you may not need to pay anything for the cost of a boiler service.
Most new boilers will come with cover for labour and repairs for 2 years.
It may also be that hour household insurance policy covers boiler repairs or breakdowns.
Boiler servicing grants
Again, before committing to a price for your boiler repair, make sure that you are not eligible for a boiler servicing grant.
There are several schemes available throughout the UK.
Different schemes have different qualifying criteria.
For example, those claiming benefits or people over 60 could be eligible for these grants.
Boiler servicing contracts
Some people prefer to have peace of mind when it comes to the cost of a boiler service and opt for paying a monthly fee which covers repairs.
British Gas offer a Homecare package for customers and some boiler manufacturers also offer boiler servicing contracts.
Some home owners find this is more expensive than one-off payments though.
